CARE! THE FREE DIFFERENCE MAKER

Today on the show Gibbs talks with Team Lancaster Thunder about some extraordinary events going on in sports that we have never seen; or it has been a very long time since the sports fan has seen these kinds of accomplishments! Many people on the east coast got to see the Northern Lights a few weeks ago. This is a rare occurrence for most. There are some "Northern Light" moments happening in sports right now that cannot be missed! Vince Carter, Ohtani, Judge, this World Series, Derrick Henry, Lebron and Bronny, and Lionel Messi are each doing things that have never been done by humans before. Gibbs also discusses the free ingredient that can be added to any situation to increase the chances that it turns out successfully...CARE! We talk NBA predictions, we talk about Juan Soto and playoff moments, and we talk about if a player takes performance enhancing drugs and their performance is not enhanced do, they get a rebate? Pitchers do not like seeing Juan Soto step into the batter's box, Revelation 1 in the Bible tells us that when Jesus returns once again his enemies will wail because they don't believe and now it is too late for them. Gibbs mind recently has thought about what inspired the various Jordan sneaker designs, Bevo charging UGA in 2019 at the sugar bowl (check out this article (DAVID HALE IS GREAT) An oral history of when Bevo charged Uga at the Sugar Bowl - ESPN), confusing the Avengers with the Guardians of the Galaxy while watching Yankees vs Cleveland duke it out, and wondering if Trevor Lawrence would be better on a better team? Of course he would! Are Jaguars legal to hunt? With all this thinking steaming up the room, let us not forget the comforting and amazing thought that God is thinking about us as reported in Psalm 8! Last night watching playoff baseball on TV and football on the phone at the same time reminded me of the ridiculous amount of abundance available in the world. In the year 2022, the Jordan Brand manufactured 60 million pairs of shoes. As you look at all the options and ways you can watch sports this weekend, remember the amazing grace of the options we have in our lives! Even more, remember that Jesus came to give life in abundance as we are reminded in John 10:10. The Lord is focused on abundance in the inner person and the outer person! Do you desire abundance in righteousness as much as you desire abundance in material goods? The Lord has provided and promises to provide in every way. LESSONS FROM AN EMPTY SQUARE

Today on the show Gibbs talks with Team Lancaster Thunder about the final lesson he learned from his experience at Penn State recently. Many years ago there used to be a famous statue of former coach Joe Paterno on the Penn State campus. That statue was removed after a long court case and in many ways despite 409 career victories Joe Paterno's name is barely whispered at Penn State or in college football at large. I looked at the empty square where the statue once stood and thought about how powerful inaction can be. We often think about doing the right or wrong thing, but what about when we know what we should do and don't do the right thing? Inaction is also an action. We look at the parable of the good Samaritan, which gives us powerful examples of both action and inaction, appropriate response in circumstances where a difference can be made, and inappropriate response where a difference can be made. NHL hockey starts tonight! We are in the thick of the sports buffet! Enjoy the October sports fest, but not so much we don't take action where the Lord has given us opportunity to make a difference.
