THANKSGIVING IN A SNOW GLOBE

Today on the show Gibbs talks with Team Lancaster Thunder about how the Lord stirred his heart to a spirit of Thanksgiving through a brother in Christ named Jameis Winston and a snowy football game in Cleveland! COULDA WOULDA SHOULDA...DIDN'T

Today on the show Gibbs talks with Team Lancaster Thunder about the Paul Skenes rookie card sweep stakes, fantasy football woes, and how though the new college football playoff bracket is fun it is still alarming how it minimizes the importance of academic excellence and work outside of sports. When thinking about life it is very easy especially in defeat or struggle to drift into the Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda life. Whether you left someone on your bench in fantasy football that had the big week, were buying packs of cards to get the Paul Skenes rookie and you never get it, or made a mistake at work, it easy to be distracted with speculation about what could have been! There is nothing life giving there. Jesus gives us true hope and allows us to run free when we consider his advice in Matthew 6:33-34. Go make plays! We are "NOT JUST FANS"!

PULLED IT LEFT

Today on the show Gibbs is talking with Team Lancaster Thunder about the kicking game! Over the weekend we saw a number of football games come down to the ability of the kicker to make a game winning field goal to send their team to victory OR to prompt stinging feelings of defeat. In some cases, the kicker converted, in more cases in Week 10 of the NFL kickers missed! It is easy to cast dispersion on a kicker for missing, but there are plenty of situations in each of our lives where we have "Pulled It Left"! Each one of us has joined Club Doink at some point! Kicking is a lot harder than it looks. Let us be aware of the areas we are each growing and learning before we are too harsh on the man who missed a field goal under the bright lights! Nehemiah 5 gives us a super cool example of someone who entered a situation where people were "Pulling it left" and not only did he stand up for what was right, he conducted his own affairs with honor, generosity, personal sacrifice and led by example! THRIFT STORE MAGIC AND THE CIRCLE BUTTON

Today on the show Gibbs talks with Team Lancaster Thunder about the thrill of finding valuable items at bargain prices! He talks about Deandre Hopkins, Saquon Barkley's ridiculous "Circle Button" moment, and how unexpectedly his respect for James Franklin grew after the Penn State loss to Ohio State. He talks about how easy it is for us to write ourselves and others off when things get hard! We can easily start feeling discouraged about a situation and losing hope. This happens in sports all the time. People are proclaimed busts, players are shed from rosters because someone loses faith in their abilities, or people lose confidence and start to perform poorly. In Luke 19:1-10 in the Bible we see a story about someone who everyone wrote off, but Jesus was about to start a redemption story. We also see this in sports, and amazingly often on championship teams. A player that was viewed as past his prime, showing up in a winning situation and finding the fountain of youth and contributing in meaningful ways. The Triune God is a redemptive God.
