Today on the show Gibbs talks with Team Lancaster Thunder about the Olympic Controversy surrounding women's boxing. Imane Khelif of Algeria possessor of the Y chromosome vs Angela Carini of Italy did not last long yesterday. Carini left the fight after feeling unsafe and said in the post fight press conference that she had to "preserve my life as well in that moment.", in reference to why she stopped the fight. She said she had never been hit that hard in her boxing career. This situation has boiled into a contentious debate over whether Khalif should have been allowed to fight in the Olympics in the women's bracket. Gibbs talks about this series of events and discusses Biblical authority over the world and the beautiful hope that Jesus provides to a sinful world.

Today on the podcast Gibbs reminds team Lancaster Thunder that our identity in Jesus has been given to us not earned. The team USA men's basketball team started their Olympic journey over the weekend and the talented Kevin Durant put on a shooting clinic for the world to see. To read about his sneaker line click here...A Complete Timeline and History of All Kevin Durant Shoes – The Fresh Press by Finish Line Durant's nicknames are "Easy Money Sniper" or "The Slim Reaper". He talked about how he felt he had to earn the "Slim Reaper" nickname in a recent interview. This got me thinking about how our "new identity" in Christ Jesus is given to us not earned. It is Jesus accomplishments upon which we stand not our own. This is easy to forget, and there is temptation to try and earn our identity in Christ instead of abiding in the work Christ has accomplished on our behalf. Can you see how the Lord is at work in you over the years? Gibbs talks about Jets and Giants football and how Jazz Chisholm showed up in Yankees Pinstripes and promptly turned into a bronx bomber as the MLB season starts to head toward playoff time. Also, keep your eyes upon for the upcoming Pro Fan League Schedule release. Go Make Plays! We are "Not Just Fans"!

Today on the show Gibbs talks about how we often face moments in life where the outcome will differ based on the path we walk down. Psalm 1 sets before us the way of the wicked and the way of the blessed man, two different outcomes based on the path we walk down! We see this concept play out in sports as well. He speculates about some more likely to happen situations...Are the Yankees more likely to sign Juan Soto, or the Cowboys more likely to extend Dak Prescott? Who would you be more likely to pick in a fantasy football draft Bo Jackson or Jerry Rice? Team Lancaster Thunder answered the call and we have some hypothetical matchups from dedicated listeners to share! Go Make Plays! We are "NOT JUST FANS!

Today on the show Gibbs encourages Team Lancaster Thunder with the fact that trust is key to successful teams and the accomplishment of whatever goal you are working toward. Who do you trust? How do you decide who or what is trustworthy? Trust is a make-or-break ingredient. He talks about the book/movie "The Boys In The Boat", a story with many applications; trust, being one of the most clear and applicable. He talks about reliability and sacrifice and how Jayson Tatum is being rewarded with the largest contract in NBA history because the Boston Celtics trust him to represent the franchise in ongoing championship ways. He talks about how the Yankees trust Aaron Judge to anchor their lineup. We all are in situations where we are asking for trust and be required to give trust. The most important relationship to foster trust is trust in the LORD! Go make plays! We are "NOT JUST FANS"!
