Imane Khelif of Algeria possessor of the Y chromosome vs Angela Carini of Italy did not last long yesterday. Carini left the fight after feeling unsafe and said in the post fight press conference that she had to "preserve my life as well in that moment.", in reference to why she stopped the fight. She said she had never been hit that hard in her boxing career. This situation has boiled into a contentious debate over whether Khalif should have been allowed to fight in the Olympics in the women's bracket.
